Work with Dashboards
Dashboards allow you to monitor an area of data in the system through groupings of visualizers. Use the following steps, to open and change the display of data on a dashboard. For information on how to change the dashboard to meet your preferences, see Personalize a Dashboard.
Open a Dashboard
- From the toolbar, click the Open Dashboards
button.
The Open Dashboards dialog box displays. It allows you to search for and open a dashboard and contains a collection of dashboards that you are authorized to view and edit. The available dashboards are based on your security settings. - In the Dashboards or Folder area, select a dashboard. The Dashboards area contains an alphabetical list of available dashboards while the Folder area contains the dashboards organized into system folders.
- Click the Open button.
The dialog box is closed and the selected dashboard is displayed in the content pane.
Apply Restrictions
The Restrictions area allows you to filter data on the dashboard. For more detailed information about restrictions, see Restrictions.
- Display the Restrictions Area: From the upper, left-hand side of the screen, click the restrictions
button to toggle the Restrictions area open and closed. This allows you to apply restrictions to the dashboard. However, it depends on each visualizer whether restrictions will change the displayed data. - Dashboard Restriction Sets: In the Restrictions area, click the Restrictions
button to save, manage, and apply restriction sets. For more information, see Restriction Sets.
Change Chart Views
Dashboard visualizers that display in chart view also provide additional options that change the way that the data is displayed. These options are available from the visualizer's View
button. For more information, see Chart Views.
Change List Display Options
Dashboard visualizers that display in list format, which allow you to modify how data is displayed; for more information about how lists work in the system, see How to Work with Lists. The following topics describe how to filter, sort, and export lists or manage or group by columns:
View Related Items
Typically, related items are accessed through the Related Items
button. However, in addition to the button, you can access related items based on data points on a visualizer. For general information about related items, see Related Items.
- To access items related to a data point, click the right mouse button on the data and then select the Related Items option and then the item to display. The item will display on the current tab, but if you want to display it on a new tab, hold down the CTRL key when you click the item.
