A budget is only created if it will have an amount and an appropriate budget category has been defined in Global Settings. How the budget is created is dependent on how variance level rules are set in the project.

  • Fee is Zero: If the opportunity Fee is zero, budgeted organizations and budgets are not created.
  • Budget is Negative: If the budgets are negative, the budgets are not created.
  • Organization Variance Responsibility and Budget Category Variance Responsibility is One: If both the Organization Variance Responsibility and the Budget Category Variance Responsibility are set to One, one budget organization is created for the opportunity's responsible organization, and one budget is created for the default budget category defined in Global Settings, and the opportunity's Fee is set as the budget effort.
  • Organization Variance Responsibility is One and Budget Category Variance Responsibility is All: If the Organization Variance Responsibility is set to One and the Budget Category Variance Responsibility is set to All, one budget organization is created for the opportunity's responsible organization.

In addition, up to three budgets will be created based on the opportunity's Labor, Expense, and Subconsultant values.

    • If Labor has a value, a budget is created for the labor budget category or default budget category defined in Global Settings and the budget effort is set to the opportunity's Labor value.
    • If Expense has a value, a budget is created for the expense budget category defined in Global Settings and the budget effort is set to the opportunity's Expense value.
    • If Subconsultant has a value, a budget is created for the subconsultant budget category defined in Global Settings and the budget effort is set to the opportunity's Subconsultant value.
  • Organization Variance Responsibility is All and Budget Category Variance Responsibility is One: If the Organization Variance Responsibility is set to All and the Budget Category Variance Responsibility is set to One, a budget organization is created for each organization defined in the opportunity's Estimated Fees area, one budget is created for the default budget category defined in Global Settings, and the opportunity's Fee is set as the budget effort.
  • Organization Variance Responsibility is All and Budget Category Variance Responsibility is All: If the Organization Variance Responsibility and the Budget Category Variance Responsibility are set to All, a budget organization is created for each organization defined in the opportunity's Estimated Fees area.

Authorizations

The opportunity's estimated fees will be defaulted as authorizations.

  • No Estimated Fees: If the opportunity does not have any estimated fees, no authorizations are created.
  • Authorization Basis is Organization: If the Authorization Basis is Organization, a new authorized organization is created for each organization defined in the opportunity's estimated fees.
  • Authorization Basis is Company: If the Authorization Basis is Company, a new authorized company is created for each company defined in the opportunity's estimated fees.
