Manage Navigation Pane

The navigation pane allows you to track, review, and maintain document instances and reports in the system. To ease the review of items, there are various ways to complete actions on items on the navigation pane.

The navigation pane uses lists to display data; for more information on how to use, filter, sort, and export lists or manage or group by columns, see How to Work with Lists.

Refresh a Tab

Only the Draft navigation pane tab is displayed in real-time, which means that it is updated as the system is updated. However, to update the other tabs, which must be updated manually, click the right mouse button on the list portion of the tab and then select the Refresh option.

Preview an Instance

To ease review, the navigation pane only provides a few details about each document instance on each tab. To preview additional information, hover your cursor over an instance or click the right mouse button and then select the Preview option. A dialog box with additional information and available actions displays.

Take an Action on an Instance

The navigation pane allows you to take any action on a document instance or report that is available when you have the instance opened on the content pane. In addition, you can select multiple instances that have the document type. The list of available actions is dependent on the document type and your permissions. For more information about available actions, see Toolbar Overview.

You can take an action in the following ways:

  • Select the instance, click the right mouse button, and then select the action from the menu. If validation fails, an icon that denotes the highest level of severity will display over the document icon; to view a list of errors, open the instance, validate, and then review the errors Validations tab on the Details Pane.
  • Preview an instance, and then select an action from the preview dialog box.

Open an Instance

To view a document instance or report in the content pane, complete one of the following:

  • Double click an instance.
  • Select the instance, click the right mouse button, and then select the Open option.
  • Preview an instance, and then click the Open button on the preview dialog box.
