Attachments Tab - Screen Description
The Attachments tab allows you to add, view, and manage files and paths that are attachments to a document instance. This tab is available from the Navigation pane. As noted before, the Attachments pane always functions in the context of the content pane. All, part, or none of the areas of the Attachments tab will display depending on the specific context.
Tool Bar
The following buttons and options are available from the toolbar at the top of the tab. While in list view, click the right mouse button to access these options from the context menu.
| Name | Button | Description |

These options allow you to add or attach a file. This button is only enabled when the active document instance in the content pane is in edit mode.

This option allows you to remove an attachment.
|
| Open |
|
The Open option allows you to view an attachment. It allows you to download and open a file type attachment or open a path type attachment. |
| Save As |
|
The Save As option allows you to highlight and select one or more attachments and click Save As to save them locally to your current workstation. Also, you may right click such a selected group of attachments to access the Save As option. This option is a particular convenience for easily storing images of key documents including draft or final invoices. |
Grid
The Grid area displays the attachments, depending on the context of the content pane, attached to a root document, related sub documents, multiple root documents, or from instances of an inquiry drill-down. For each attachment, the following information can be entered or is automatically stored. The Attachments tab includes a List and Details view; for more information, see Views.
The attachment results are grouped by Document Type and Document Name. These act as dividers to identify the source level of the attachment. The usual sort and filter tools are available to further organize the results. Also, when the you are focused on a area in a workflow document, the attachments related to that particular sub area context are highlighted in the attachment pane.
If attachments are not allowed at the child level of a document, the user will still see all attachments associated with the root document, and the context for adding attachments is set to the root document.
List View
By default, the Attachments tab uses the List view to display data about the attachments. For more information on how to use, filter, sort, and export the list or manage or group by columns, see How to Work with Lists.
The default columns are marked with an indicator (
). For information on how to display the optional columns, see Manage Columns.

Drag and Drop Zone
The Drag and Drop Zone appears at the bottom of the Attachments tab and it is visible only if the user can edit attachments and the content area context permits adding attachments. This area provides an easy to use method for adding attachments to documents. The drag and drop zone has the following parts:
- A Label which displays the current document context.
- An Active zone into which the user can drag and drop files.
- A Browse button which allows the user to search system spaces to find needed files.
The drag and drop zone offers the following capabilities:
- When the user drags and drops a file from a draggable source on to the drag and drop area, the file is attached to the document in context.
- When files are dragged and dropped in the attachment pane, they are attached only if they are dropped in the drag and drop zone.
- The main content area still functions for drag and drop functionality: if the user drops a file on a particular document in the content area, the file is attached to that particular document.
- Users may drag and drop files from draggable sources like MS Windows file explorer or the desktop.
- Users may drag and drop a URL path from a web browser. The URL is stored as a path type of attachment.
-
When the user clicks on the Browse button, the standard file selection dialog is displayed and the process is similar to the Add button described above.
