File Watcher Overview
The File Watcher process is part of the BSTGlobal Transaction Processor Service. The File Watcher process allows you automatically import files from predefined locations and import them into the system using routes that define the automated process for each file.
Configure Routing File Location Folders
For each location where you want users to be able to upload files to be imported, you will need to complete the following:
-
Create one or more directories. This is typically a shared UNC folder (e.g. \\servername\directoryname) that may have an equivalent mapped web folder on cloud-based configurations. Directories can be located on a different server as long as the share permissions have been granted.
- For each directory, give Read/Write permissions to the BST11 service/admin domain account (e.g. DOMAIN\bstdba).
- For each directory, give Read/Write permissions to business users who need to add files.

Define Locations
The file watcher process will scan the predefined locations for new files. For each location that you want to be scanned, you will need to create a Routing File Location; this allows you to configure and register a directory share location and associate it with a predefined routing type. The routing includes information used to sequence and route files during processing. For example, if you select Import Request File Routing, this location can be used for processing imports.
Select the Type of Routing
For each routing location, you will need to select the predefined type of routing to determine the type of processing that will occur. You can select either an Import Request Routing for Import Requests, or a Vendor Invoice Routing for Vendor Invoices.
Add Files
Once folders are setup and locations and templates are configured, users can add files. The File Watcher process will scan the locations for new files and create or update document instances and then submit them into the BST11 workflow based on the settings defined in the routing.
Review Submittals
After the File Watcher process has imported files and submitted them into the system, Administrators can review the submittals using Routing File Submittal.
