Navigate Project Scheduling Time Periods

From the Project - Resources tab, you can manage the resource schedule for a project. From this tab you can add resources to tasks and then schedule time-phased assignments.

The Hours section of the screen, which is used to enter assignments, can display up to twelve periods (months or weeks) and defaults to scheduling time period associated with the current date. While, the view only goes out as far as the scheduling calendar has been defined, you can use the following to navigate between the available scheduling periods to display.

Navigate Time Periods

While the Hours section defaults to scheduling time period associated with the current date, the time period navigation options allow you to shift the displayed time periods as needed.

  • Use the scroll bar beneath the Hours section to shift the screen focus between the displayed 12 periods.
  • To the right of the scroll bar, click the Back or Forward button to shift the display 12 periods (months or weeks based on Timescale selection). Based on the scheduling calendar, if 12 periods are not available, as many periods as are available will display.
  • To select a specific date as the starting point, click the Scheduling Date button. This allows you to enter a date, which shifts the grid to the entered date or to the closest date to the entered date as found in the scheduling calendar.

Go To Start Date

The Go To Start Date option allows you to automatically scroll the Hours section to the date within the scheduling calendar closest to the start date of a selected task. This option is only available when a single task or resource row is selected and when a task start date is specified.

  • Task: With a task row selected, click the right mouse button and select the Go To Start Date option.
The Hours section is automatically scrolled to the Start Date of the task. If the date falls outside of the displayed date range, the scheduling date is set to the closest date to the entered date as found in the scheduling calendar
  • Resource: With a resource row selected, click the right mouse button and select the Go To Start Date option.
The Hours section is automatically scrolled to the resource's first assignment for the task. If the date falls outside of the displayed date range, the scheduling date is set to the closest date to the entered date as found in the scheduling calendar.
