Enter Overrides

The appropriate rates and multipliers to be used in the project effort and billing value calculations are defined in labor, expense, and unit terms that are assigned to a project. When project circumstances dictate that these calculation values need to be modified, the values may be changed. This is known as an override. When defined, the overrides are used instead of the standard values in project calculations.

Override Indicators

The overrides for the various project rate schedules and multiplier groups all work in a similar fashion. Typically, the possibility for an override is indicated by an override checkbox on the screen. If the checkbox is selected, an override is already entered. This display is read-only except that an override may be entered directly here when there is only one lower row of data to be overridden.

Change to the Detail view to apply overrides. Previously overridden rates and multipliers are shown with a red flag icon at the left of an overridden row.

Effective Dates

Rates and multipliers also are governed by an Effective Date. The rate or multiplier found in that row is only used when the system processing date is equal to or greater than the effective date. The effective date may also be overridden and the overridden date takes precedence over related base dates.

For example, assume that the base record has rates for effective dates 01/02/2011, 06/01/2011 and 01/02/2012, and the associated override has rates for the effective date 05/01/2011. The override record effectively nullifies and replaces the base record with effective dates 06/01/2011 and 01/02/2012. The base record with effective date 01/02/2011 is still in effect.

Manage Overrides

Once you have an override-available Section displayed in Detail View, you can manage overrides in the following ways:

  • Add: Click on the Add button. A new row is displayed in the list. Enter the codes, date and values as needed.
  • Modify: This is available whether previously overridden or not. Highlight the row. Enter the codes, date and values as needed.
  • Delete: Click on the Delete button. The row is deleted.
