Copy Project
To create a new project from an existing project, use the New From feature; for more information, see Add a Document from an Existing Document.This feature copies the budgets, resources, root level fields, labor terms, expense terms, bill terms, and tasks from an existing project to a new project. You can also copy forecasts for active budget categories.
You can create a new project using an existing project by:
- Copying an existing project through the New From-Project feature and then selecting the Copy Project transformation
- Opening an existing project through the Save As feature and then selecting the Copy Project transformation
- Opening an existing project through the Related Items-Copy Project feature
Copy a Project
- Click the New
button and then select the New From... option.
The New dialog box with a search area displays. The available document types are based on your security settings. - In the Types or Folders area, select Project.
- In the search area, enter any additional search criteria. If needed, click the expand
button next to the Results heading to display the restrictions area, which allows you to enter advanced search criteria. For more information, see Restrictions. - Select if you are searching for a project in the Draft or Final database.
- Click the Search
button.
A list of projects that match the entered criteria display in the Results area. - Select a project. To view additional details about a item, hover over the information
button. - In Transformation, select Copy Project.
- Click the New button.
The dialog box is closed and a new project is created based on the copied project. - Edit any necessary fields.
- Click the Save
button.
The new project is saved in a draft state.
Copy Template Project
You can also use the Project Template feature, which allows you to create template projects that are then available for employees with project copy capabilities, to select as a basis for creating new projects.
