Project Forecasts (Inquiry)

Additional Information

The Project Forecasts Inquiry allows you to view project revenue forecasts by budget category over a selected posting period range.

The Project Forecasts Inquiry contains a grid with the following:

  • Rows by project and budget category, and a totals row that sums all of these values
  • Columns that display project properties and calculated values
  • Columns that display forecasted and actual revenue are determined by the From Posting Period and To Posting Period selections
  • Columns that display Range Totals for forecasted and actual revenue totals across the time span queried

Budget Category rows for each project display only if there is project activity, for example, Budget Effort, Revenue or Revenue Forecast. This includes inactive budget categories.

Click the related items button and then select Open Project to open the project document for the selected project. This is only enabled for projects that you have access to open.

Restrictions

The inquiry includes the following default restrictions:

From Posting Period

Enter or select a From Posting Period that corresponds to the system date. This is the first posting period in the date range to include open items. This field defaults to the current posting period.

To Posting Period Enter or select a To Posting Period that corresponds to the system date.
Currency Type

Enter or select the type of currency to display on the report. The field defaults to Project Currency. Available options include Document Currency, Company Currency and Base Currency.
  Project Status Select a status. This limits the inquiry results to projects with the selected status. This field defaults to Active.

Results

The inquiry contains a single level of project forecast information, which includes Project Code, Project Name, Budget Category Code, Budget Category Name, Chargeable Budget Effort, Revenue Forecast (Total), Revenue Forecast (pivot column) and Revenue Forecast (Range, total to the right). The following calculations apply for the Project Forecasts Inquiry:

  • Revenue Forecast (Total): Calculated as the sum of the forecasts entered by posting period across all time.
  • Backlog: Calculated as Chargeable Budget Effort - Revenue (Total) with the negative values suppressed.
  • Forecast to Complete: Calculated as the sum of forecasts made into the future beyond the earliest open period. This is for the earliest posting period where Stage is Open.

All the numerical values and totals display two (2) decimal places.

The Budget Effort, Chargeable Budget Effort and Revenue (Total) will always reflect values up to the earliest open period and are not be affected by the From and To Posting Periods.
