Manage Baselines

The Manage Baselines dialog allows you to save and manage baselines for a project. A baseline is used for task start / finish dates and resource plans. Projects can have multiple baselines saved.

Baselines are managed on the Manage Baselines dialog box. To access the dialog box from Project, click the Baselines button and then select Manage Baselines. In Current and Baseline view, the left grid displays the current task information. When you change the view from Current to Baseline, only the right panel changes to display the current plan in comparison to the baseline plan from the Gantt chart.

Add a Baseline

 

Note: Only one new baseline can be created per workflow session.

  1. Right-click on the list area and then select Add.
    A new, empty row is added to the list. The baseline is automatically saved.
  2. In the Name column, enter a name for the baseline.
  3. In the Description column, enter a description of the baseline.

The baseline will be created when the project is processed.

Select a Baseline

To select a baseline, you should select an existing baseline from the list that appears when you select the down pointing arrow next to the Baselines icon on the content toolbar.

Delete a Baseline

Right-click on a baseline in the list area and then select Delete. The line item is crossed out on the list.
